Well, we have started on the first part of the music room at home. Once you see the pictures you will see that it may take a couple of weeks to get there. So here goes: Phase 1 - Clearing the space. The garage has been a bit of a dumping area since we moved in just over 5 years ago. However, the aim now is to clear it ready to put up a partitioning wall. As you can see lots of bits and pieces. Mainly baby things, which we are plannning to sell (a few pieces have already gone), although some bits are also free to a good home. Also 2 freezers and fridge freezer need to go. If you think you could give something a loving home then please ask. I have attached a rough list of things that need to go. Collection only sorry. email: [email protected]

After a few ups and downs I decided it was time to branch out on my own and provide music to as many groups of people as possible. I have been teaching music for several years now and LOVE it! The endless possibilities and the variety it offers. It still makes me go WOW! However, I know that I still have a lot to learn about music, so I have started on a journey finding out how music can used for therapy. We all know that listening to different types of music affects your mood. A good rousing march, such as Elgar's 'Pomp and Circumstance' makes you want to move and adds excitement, whereas a lullaby relaxes and calms. But how can this be used as therapy? I have started looking at music with the view of how it can be used for therapeutic purposes. Just beginning with a simple tune I have taken it apart to find out the elements needed. I have listened to it and felt the beat. Identified the instruments and how they have been used to convey their message. Have a go yourself with this piece of music. What did you hear? Feel? Experience?
You will need to listen a few times and you will hear something new each time. |
